Topic: Wednesday is here!!

Hi all,

I got home from Chicago last night around 1130pm. I'm still tired! We walked around the Botanic Gardens for about three hrs before my daughter took me to Midway!

Its 90degrees here! I'm livu g it compared to the rain and cold in Chicago!

I'm going to start to look for a rental soon in The suburbs so I have a place of my own. Its hard cause I only want a studio apartment but not in the city. I need my own space. Man is it expensive in the Chicago area!!!

We will be snow birds!!

Any ideas??

Good morning everyone,

Great to hear that you had a good time.

Good luck on you journey hunting for a studio apartment. You got that right about Chicago in being expensive. If I had my way and the money I would move to Arizona.

I've been busy off & on for the past few weeks with life. I do have an appointment tomorrow with the doctor that did my weight loss surgery and did my pannectomy/ventral hernia surgery, the reason I have an appointment with him is to find out if I would need hernia surgery of not, I think he might tell me that I would need it. I told this to my joint replacement doctor and he told me "if you need to have the hernia surgery, make an appointment to see me 6 weeks after I have my hernia surgery.", also I was told by my weight loss surgery surgeon's nurse practitioner that the recovery time for the hernia surgery is 1 month. All depends what my doctor says tomorrow about if I need the hernia or not let along a surgery date that will determine if I'll go to Arizona (some time during the first week of June or so) to help out my aunt with her two dogs and one cat for a few days while she's in Chicago.

Other wise I'm doing good. Just busy with life for the last few weeks off & on as I said.

I can't wait for June 2, 2015 to get so I can get the new Stephen King that's coming out called "Finders Keepers".

Have a great day everyone.

Hello everyone

My day started with my computer monitor not working and then my email going down...I'm afraid to ask...what next.

Dawn- I worked for retail and restaurants for years and they do treat you like children.  Honestly, after working in an office setting for a long time I can say if you work for a big corporation it's not much different.  The company I worked for before I moved to Champaign had a points system.  But because I NEVER was late....ever.  Not in 9 years.  I never got points taken off.  As for calling off sick I got points taken off for it. They treat you like a number instead of a valued part a company.

Sharon- You need to find out how much they are paying you.  That is a normal question.  You don't want him to think he can take advantage of you.  What happens if it really low and not worth it?

I have to say after getting a new boss my job has been good.  A little slow...but good.  I haven't gotten yelled at.  In fact I feel I have a boss that goes to bat for me.  That is on my side.  It makes a big difference in your day when you don't have that looming over you..."am I going to get yelled at today"

Yesterday after work I came home started dinner and went right to work.  And Greg did the same thing.  I have to say it is still is amazing to be with someone that is not such a lazy bum.  Amanda's father would just lay there and I would have to do all of the work.  If anything he does more work than me.  And I am still not used to it...LOL!!!

Hi Everyone,

I was also wondering  what month this is. So far, we have had rain heat and now this cold day. Jeans and a sweatshirt will be my outfit for this day.

How far away is the "new job". Is it worth the pay after you pay for gas and tolls?

Dawn, a company like that is not fun to work for. I am so grateful that my company understands that you have family situations, and health things and personal things that come up.Even though it is not a perfect company, I wouldn't leave it.

Not sure what I am doing today. I will just start on something and see where it goes.

Spagetti squash with meatballs  and sauce for dinner tonight. For me anyway. Hubert hates it, so regular spagetti for him. He will eat the meatballs. Plus a small salad. I will bake the squash now, so I can get some heat in here. I will NOT turn up the furnace in May.

Have a great day,

Hugs,

Lisa

Hey Chicks!

I started a new "job" yesterday. It was weird. I got a call last week to interview, so I go over there at 9:30a....(long drive and tolls all the way) to be directed to a desk to have a seat in front of an old electric type writer. So I am thinking, "ok, a typing test" but I didnt even know how to turn the dinasaur on! The thing was so old, the keys had no letters on them from so much use......So then the attorney comes out and says to me. "Susan, can you wor****il 1:30?" I'm like, "sure". So I start answering the phones and taking messages and type 2 briefs for him. At 1:30p he asks me if I can work tomorrow (today) from 11a to 1p? I ask him, "does this mean I have the job?"  He says, "well, my receptionist/typist is on sick leave and I need someone right now, and my main girl is retiring in July so let's see. " Ugh!!!!! Right now I dont even know how much I am being paid.........I do need another part time job, so lets see if this is the one. i have been looking for another food service banquet server job . I've never worked in a law office, so this is good experience for me. I love the fact that I am the youngest in the office! That hasnt happened in 30 years  I'm taking it day to day.

My spring cleaning is in full gear. Room by room I am taking it slow but steady.

I need to donate some stuff, soes anyone know who comes to the house and picks up?????

Well, I am off. Enjoy this brrrrrr day the Lord has given us.

Hugs,

Sharon

Hi Dawn,

Something I learned in my recovery......the hard road is the high road. This work situation will lead to something better for you. Just give it to Him, He will give you what you need. Hugs Dear One!

Dawn,

Welcome to the world of business retail.  I face the same thing in my job.  I have never seen so many rules in my life!  It is unreal!  There are no exceptions.  You feel like a robot or a child/.  No room for life happens and dont get me started on all the day to day rules on the way things must be done.  I was written up because I issued a refund of 3 cents to a customer because she was charged for a catalog and was irate.  What I missed was that she had also called a previous day and a refund was put in for her.  So I satisfied the customer and cost the business an extra 3 cents but that caused a HUGE problem!    Would the rather have a satisfied customer or 3 cents?  Go figure.  Geesh!

Good evening Illinois!

I am here.....hanging in.  I am pretty sure that retail is not for me.  I am trying, really I am.  Maybe it is just the company, I don't know.  I realized today that working for them is like walking into a casino.......the odds are with the house.  They have lots of rules that are meant to help teach young people a work ethic, and I get that, but they really go overboard.  Punching in 2 minutes after your start time will get you half a point, 12 points and you are fired.  Missing a shift, no matter why (including a car accident with doctor's orders) gets you a point.  I have been there almost 6 weeks and was written up today for 3 points total.  I understand on one level, but feel like a 4 year old on another level.  Maybe all retail is like this.  I haven't even started my "real" job yet.  I guess I need to keep looking for something more suitable.  This makes me kind of sad, but if I am going to work retail, I need to do it closer to home.

It sounds like you all are very busy, and I an excited for Crystal and her move.

I picked up Liv last Thursday and it is nice having her home.  David has bee fine most days but is very cranky today.  Todd is good.

I need to get back to being balanced.

Everyone have a great evening!

Tell someone that you love them!

Hello everyone

I was so busy this weekend getting everything situated.  We are so sore.  Everything from the waist down is sore on me.  Including my butt muscles and my ankles???  All and all we were very productive and got a lot done.

I think because of all the hectic business and non-stop moving....I have lost 5 lbs this week!!!  I laughed and told Greg I have discovered a new diet and exercise craze...the moving diet.

I was hoping to get more done, but every thing that was in the storage unit was covered in a layer of thick dust.  YUCK!!!  I had to stop and dust or vacuum everything.  I am allergic to dust and the last thing I want to do is fill the house with dusty things.  I mean even things that were inside boxes got dusty.  It penetrated everything.  Needless to say I was all stuffy and feeling icky.

My mother's day...well Amanda is in Washington.  She sent me a card and some chocolates that I really liked when I was there.  And of course called....but she's not here.  So I spent the day organizing my clothes.  And I did groceries for the week.  Greg did get me flowers.

I have so much more to do.  Ugh....

Well back to work...have a good day
